Haze season, dusty roadsides and closed-up condos in a humid climate make a HEPA air purifier one of the few appliances that earns its spot in the living room. Choosing one is harder, because the best HEPA air purifiers in Malaysia sell for anywhere between RM639 and RM4,700, and the box rarely explains the gap.

This guide compares 7 models sold here today, using specs and prices from brand and retailer pages checked in October 2026. Two of the seven come from CUCKOO, the Korean home appliance brand, and each entry notes where a rival does something better.

Key Takeaways

  • The CUCKOO D Model is the top pick for large rooms, with an Ultra-Deo HEPA14 filter and 66 m² of coverage.
  • The CUCKOO U Model has the biggest reach in this list at up to 1,161 sq ft (about 108 m²), and it rents for RM143 a month.
  • The Dyson TP09 is the only model here that destroys formaldehyde, while the Philips 3000i and Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 publish CADR figures of 520 m³/h and 400 m³/h.
  • Prices run from RM639 to RM4,700, so match coverage to your room size first, then compare filter grade and running costs.

The 7 Best HEPA Air Purifiers in Malaysia, Ranked

1. CUCKOO D Model: Best for Large Rooms

The CUCKOO D Model air purifier is the top pick for big living rooms. It covers 66 m² and runs 3 filters: a pre-filter, an allergen filter and an Ultra-Deo HEPA14 filter that handles both HEPA filtration and deodorising.

A fine dust sensor and an air quality indicator show what the machine is dealing with, and there are 10 operating modes. The voice prompts come in English, Malay, Chinese and Korean, which helps in a multilingual household.

At 65 W and 11 kg, it works best parked in one spot. The pre-filter needs cleaning every 2 weeks, the allergen filter is replaced every 4 months and the HEPA14 filter every 12 months.

It costs RM3,550 outright on CUCKOO’s online store and includes 1 year of free service and warranty. After that, the CUCKOO+ Care Service package is RM550 a year, which is worth budgeting for if you want technicians to handle the filter changes.

2. Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde TP09: Best Premium Pick

The Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde TP09 is the one to buy if you want a purifier that doubles as a fan. Its HEPA H13 filter captures 99.95% of particles down to 0.1 micron, according to Dyson, and a catalytic filter breaks down formaldehyde continuously. No other model here does the second part.

It oscillates up to 350°, cools you down in warm weather and pairs with the Dyson Link app. At 4.85 kg, it is easy to shift between rooms.

Dyson quotes performance in an 81 m³ room instead of a floor area, which works out to about 30 m² at a 2.7 m ceiling. It costs RM2,699 on dyson.my, down from RM3,599, so you are paying extra for the formaldehyde tech and the fan design.

3. CUCKOO U Model: Best for Very Large Spaces

The CUCKOO U Model air purifier has the biggest reach on this list, at up to 1,161 sq ft (about 108 m²). CUCKOO pitches it at large open-plan homes and commercial spaces, and it pulls air in from all sides.

It uses a True HEPA+ H14 filter with a deodorisation layer, and CUCKOO says its own test showed 99.995% of airborne particles removed. A plasma ioniser, PM1.0 particle detection and an 8-level air quality indicator come with it.

Outright, it costs RM4,400, which is still RM200 to RM300 below the Coway Noble 2. Renting is RM143 a month for years 1 to 3 and RM138 a month for years 4 to 5, with 5 years of free service and warranty. The coverage figure is CUCKOO’s own claim.

4. Coway Noble 2: Best Rental Alternative

The Coway Noble 2 air purifier is the closest rival to the D Model, with nearly the same coverage at 67 m². It uses 4D filters that pull air in from every direction, plus a UVC sterilisation stage that Coway says inactivates up to 99.9% of bacteria.

Touch controls, hidden wheels and a pet mode round out the features. The filter stack includes a 4D Copper HEPA filter that is replaced every 12 months, though Coway does not state a HEPA grade.

Outright it costs RM4,600 to RM4,700 depending on the service option, about RM1,050 to RM1,150 more than the D Model. Rental starts at RM95 a month on a 7-year self-service plan and rises to about RM143 on a 3-year minimum plan, and the Heart Service plans include 7 years of free servicing. That makes it the cheapest monthly entry point in this list.

5. Philips 3000i AC3033/30: Best for Fast Cleaning

The Philips 3000i air purifier has the highest published CADR here at 520 m³/h. Philips says it clears a 20 m² room in under 8 minutes.

Its 3-layer filter pairs a NanoProtect HEPA filter with activated carbon, and Philips claims 99.97% filtration down to 0.003 micron. A colour ring and display show PM2.5, gas and allergen readings, the Air+ app handles remote control, and sleep mode drops as low as 34 dB.

Malaysian retailers list it at RM1,888 to RM2,209, and it draws 55 W. Philips does not state an H13 or H14 grade, so its CADR is the number to use when you compare it with other models.

6. Sharp FP-J40LW: Best for Bedrooms

The Sharp FP-J40LW air purifier suits bedrooms and small offices of up to 30 m². It has a pre-filter, a deodorising filter and a HEPA filter, plus Sharp’s Plasmacluster ion technology.

Noise runs from 15 to 45 dB, it draws just 23 W and there is a haze mode for bad days. Prices sit around RM849 to RM929 across Malaysian retailers, and Senheng sells replacement filters.

Sharp does not state a HEPA grade, and 30 m² is the smallest coverage on this list. Keep it for a single room.

7. Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4: Best Budget Pick

The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 is the budget pick, at RM639 to RM799 depending on the seller. It still publishes a CADR of 400 m³/h and rates itself for rooms of up to 48 m².

Control runs through the Mi Home app or Google Assistant, and the filter is rated for 6 to 12 months of use. That filter is Xiaomi’s own High Efficiency Filter, sold as HEPA-class with no H13 or H14 grade, and the unit weighs 5.6 kg.

How to Choose a HEPA Air Purifier for Your Home

Start with the room, then the filter, then the ongoing cost. A cheap unit in the wrong room size does less than a mid-priced one that fits.

1. Match Coverage to Your Room Size

Pick a purifier rated for at least the floor area of your room, and leave some headroom. Coverage figures come from each brand’s own testing, and Philips quotes different room sizes in different markets.

If a model publishes a CADR, use it. PriceShop Malaysia’s haze guide suggests the smoke CADR should be at least 5 times the room volume, so a 30 m² room with a 2.7 m ceiling (about 81 m³) calls for roughly 405 m³/h. On that rule the Philips 3000i clears it at 520 m³/h, and the Xiaomi at 400 m³/h sits right on the line.

2. Check the Filter Grade and Running Costs

H13 and H14 are the grades to look for, and both are brand claims here. Philips, Sharp and Xiaomi do not state a grade, so compare them on CADR and filter life instead.

Filters are where the running costs sit. The D Model’s HEPA14 filter is rated for 12 months and its allergen filter for 4 months, the Xiaomi filter for 6 to 12 months, and Dyson says its formaldehyde catalytic filter never needs replacing.

3. Decide Between Renting and Buying

Rent if you would rather spread the cost and have servicing built in, and buy if you want to own the unit from day one. The U Model rents for RM143 a month and the Coway Noble 2 from RM95 a month, both with free servicing included (5 years on the U Model, 7 years on Coway’s Heart Service plans).

If you do buy outright, set aside a yearly servicing budget. The D Model’s CUCKOO+ Care Service package is RM550 a year, and you can compare the full CUCKOO HEPA air purifier range before you decide.

Picking the Right HEPA Air Purifier for Your Room

The best HEPA air purifier in Malaysia depends on the room it has to clean. For a large living room, the CUCKOO D Model is the strongest all-rounder, and for an open-plan space or a small commercial unit, the U Model covers the most floor area.

Dyson suits anyone who wants formaldehyde control and a fan in one machine, Philips suits people who care about fast clean-up, and Sharp fits a bedroom. Xiaomi is the sensible choice when the budget is firm.
