- Verified published local SEO pricing in Malaysia runs from RM1,150 a month for a single outlet (Kawan Elite) up to RM12,000 (Mackyclyde Authority). Thirteen of the 20 published figures sit at or below RM2,500, and the median is RM2,000. Every price here was read off the provider’s own website on 2 November 2026.
- Only one provider prices per outlet. Everyone else sells a flat retainer, which is why the Branch Divisor matters: a flat RM2,000 retainer split across 3 branches allocates RM667 per profile, below the RM980 that per-outlet pricing charges for that band. At 5 branches it falls to RM400, which is 53% below.
- Google names three local ranking factors: relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is fixed by your address, so the money only moves two of the three.
- Seven of the nine publish enough detail to compare. Two publish none. Three widely circulated price claims for these providers do not appear anywhere on their own sites.
A plumber in Puchong and a five-branch dental group both get quoted “local SEO, RM2,000 a month”. One of them is overpaying by a factor of two, and it is not the plumber.
How we ranked this list
Providers are ordered by how much local-specific pricing detail each publishes: price tied to outlet count ranks first, then price with Google Business Profile itemised per tier, then a single figure with local scope described, then no published price. Seven of the nine publish a figure. Two publish none.
The four criteria, in weight order:
- Published RM pricing tied to local scope. A price per outlet beats a price with GBP itemised, which beats a flat figure with local work described in prose, which beats silence.
- Named Google Business Profile deliverables. Categories, service areas, review handling, citation and NAP cleanup, suspension recovery. A services list that says “local SEO” and stops is not a deliverable.
- A checkable Malaysian entity. A registration number, a stated address, and a company you can look up on SSM e-Search.
- Multi-location handling. Whether the provider states what happens when you have more than one branch, which is where most Malaysian local SEO engagements actually break.
What disqualifies a provider: a guaranteed Map Pack position, no traceable entity, or a published figure stated as a “worth” rather than a price.
A note on sourcing. Malaysian local SEO roundups routinely attribute prices to agencies that never published them. Checking all nine against their own sites caught three cases, including a roundup that quotes two monthly figures for Mackyclyde SEO that appear nowhere on mackyclyde.com. Every figure below is on the provider’s own page, with the retrieval date in the source line.
Before comparing any two quotes, ask both providers what happens to the price at your second branch. The answers diverge more than the headline figures do.
How does Google actually rank local businesses?
Google’s own Business Profile documentation names three factors: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your listing fits the search, distance is how far you are from the searcher, and prominence is how well known the business is, which Google says draws on how many websites link to you and how many reviews you have. Google also states plainly that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.
Distance is the one nobody can sell you. If a customer in Bangsar searches for a dentist, your Cheras clinic is 11km away and no retainer changes that. What a provider can move is relevance, through profile completeness and category accuracy, and prominence, through reviews and links.
This is why review velocity shifts Map Pack position even when your citations have not changed. Reviews feed prominence directly, by Google’s own description of the factor. It is also why a provider who shows you a rankings chart without a geo-grid is showing you very little: your position varies by the searcher’s location, so a single ranking number for “dentist Kuala Lumpur” describes one point on a map rather than a result.
Ask any provider which of the three factors each line item is meant to move. Anything that moves none of them is overhead.
What does local SEO cost in Malaysia?
Verified published figures run from RM550 per outlet a month at volume to RM12,000 for a multi-branch programme. A single-location business has a published entry point of RM1,150, and the median published figure across the nine providers is RM2,000, which is RM2,160 payable with 8% service tax and RM25,920 across a year.
| Provider and tier | Quoted | With 8% SST | 12 months | Local scope published |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kawan Elite, 21 to 49 outlets | RM550 | RM594.00 | RM7,128 | Per outlet |
| Kawan Elite, 6 to 10 outlets | RM750 | RM810.00 | RM9,720 | Per outlet |
| Kawan Elite, 4 to 5 outlets | RM850 | RM918.00 | RM11,016 | Per outlet |
| Kawan Elite, 2 to 3 outlets | RM980 | RM1,058.40 | RM12,701 | Per outlet |
| Kawan Elite, 1 outlet | RM1,150 | RM1,242.00 | RM14,904 | Per outlet |
| SEO.com.my Starter | RM1,200 | RM1,296.00 | RM15,552 | GBP itemised, 10 keywords |
| ZenWeb Starter | RM1,299 | RM1,402.92 | RM16,835 | GBP not itemised |
| Big Domain, promo | RM1,480 | RM1,598.40 | RM19,181 | GMB Booster component |
| ZenWeb Growth | RM1,999 | RM2,158.92 | RM25,907 | GBP not itemised |
| SEO.com.my Growth | RM2,000 | RM2,160.00 | RM25,920 | GBP itemised, 20 keywords |
| Mackyclyde Bootstrap | RM2,000 | RM2,160.00 | RM25,920 | GBP, citations, GEO |
| iMarketing Essential | RM2,400 | RM2,592.00 | RM31,104 | GBP not listed at this tier |
| SEO.com.my Pro | RM3,200 | RM3,456.00 | RM41,472 | GBP itemised, 35 keywords |
| Adam SEO Standard | RM3,500 | RM3,780.00 | RM45,360 | Local specialist scope |
| iMarketing Advanced | RM3,600 | RM3,888.00 | RM46,656 | GBP optimisation added |
| Mackyclyde Startup | RM4,000 | RM4,320.00 | RM51,840 | GBP, 10 tracked AI prompts |
| iMarketing Premium | RM4,800 | RM5,184.00 | RM62,208 | GBP optimisation |
| SEO.com.my Enterprise | RM5,500 | RM5,940.00 | RM71,280 | Multi-location local SEO |
| Mackyclyde Authority | RM12,000 | RM12,960.00 | RM155,520 | Multi-branch, 30 prompts |
Two providers publish no price and are covered in entries 8 and 9.
A provider billing RM1,200 a month crosses the RM500,000 service tax threshold at roughly 35 retained clients, so a small local shop quoting with no tax line is often entirely correct rather than cutting corners. Ask, rather than assume.
Why does the per-branch figure matter more than the retainer?
Local ranking is decided per profile, not per account. A flat retainer covers the account, so the number that predicts what each branch actually receives is the retainer divided by branch count. Call it the Branch Divisor. It falls below per-outlet pricing at three branches.
| Branches | Flat RM2,000 retainer, per branch | Per-outlet plan, per branch | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | RM2,000.00 | RM1,150.00 | Flat costs RM850 more |
| 2 | RM1,000.00 | RM980.00 | Roughly level |
| 3 | RM666.67 | RM980.00 | Flat allocates RM313 less |
| 5 | RM400.00 | RM850.00 | Flat allocates RM450 less |
| 10 | RM200.00 | RM750.00 | Flat allocates RM550 less |
The crossover sits at three branches, and it holds at every flat tier. At RM1,200 a month a three-branch business allocates RM400 per profile. At RM3,500 it allocates RM1,167, which still beats per-outlet pricing, because a higher retainer simply moves the crossover point further out.
None of this makes flat retainers wrong. A single-location business is clearly better off on one: RM1,150 per outlet against RM2,000 flat is a RM10,200 difference over a year. The point is that the comparison inverts somewhere around your third branch, and almost no Malaysian proposal states where.
work out your own Branch Divisor before the first call, then ask each provider what per-profile work that figure buys. A provider who cannot answer at your branch count is quoting for an account, not for your locations.
Find out what is actually broken before you buy a retainer. Mackyclyde SEO publishes a free audit covering the highest-impact checks from its 47-point framework, including a per-branch Google Business Profile review, NAP consistency across Malaysian directories, and an AI search readiness score. Turnaround is two business days from access, with no card and no contract. The full 47-point audit starts from RM3,000 and takes five business days. Request the free SEO audit.
Group A: providers publishing local SEO pricing with scope attached
1. Kawan Elite
Local SEO capabilities: Google Business Profile review and optimisation across categories, description, hours, services, attributes and images, citation claiming on Bing, Apple Maps and Facebook, GBP address matching, review monitoring and response coaching, on-page local SEO for up to five products or services per location, and monthly per-location reporting on profile views, calls, website visits and direction requests.
The only provider in this set that prices the unit local ranking is actually decided on. Its Growth Plan runs RM1,150 per outlet a month for one location, dropping through RM980 at two to three outlets, RM850 at four to five, RM750 at six to ten, RM650 at 11 to 20 and RM550 at 21 to 49, with custom quotes above 50. Operating as Elite Growth Tech Sdn Bhd (SSM 1033546-X) from Mercu Maybank at I-City, Shah Alam, and listed as an MOF Registered Supplier.
Two things to confirm before signing. A one-time account and tracking setup fee applies on the first month and the amount is not published, which is the one gap in an otherwise unusually transparent rate card. And volume rates apply to same-brand outlets under a single agreement, so a group running several brands does not aggregate. There is no lock-in contract.
2. Mackyclyde SEO
Local SEO capabilities: Google Business Profile optimisation, local citation building, NAP consistency across the website and Malaysian directories, per-branch profile auditing, city and state service page coverage, plus Generative Engine Optimisation with tracked AI prompt counts.
Three published tiers, month to month with no setup fee: Bootstrap at RM2,000 covers 10 keywords with one monthly content piece, GBP and Merchant Center optimisation and GEO work, Startup at RM4,000 covers 30 keywords and 10 tracked AI prompts, and Authority from RM12,000 covers 50 keywords, 30 tracked prompts and paid PR. Founded in 2020 in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, by Nnabuike Precious, Founder and Lead Strategist, with Ang Zheng Yen as Co-founder and Lead Strategist. TechBehemoths named it Best SEO Agency in Malaysia for 2025.
It is the only provider here publishing a tracked AI prompt count against a price, which matters for local queries specifically: “best dentist in Bangsar” increasingly returns an AI answer above the Map Pack, and prompts are the unit for measuring that. Its published audit is also the most granular local diagnostic in this set, with 7 of its 47 checkpoints dedicated to local SEO.
Where it ranks behind the two above: Bootstrap is a flat tier, so a multi-branch business runs straight into the Branch Divisor, and a single-location business pays RM850 more a month than Kawan Elite’s one-outlet rate. The month-to-month terms are the loosest commitment on this page, which partly offsets that for anyone unwilling to sign six months.
3. SEO.com.my
Local SEO capabilities: Local SEO with Google Business Profile management listed in every tier, foundational through advanced link building by tier, schema, AI search optimisation including answer-first content, and multi-location local SEO at the top tier.
Four published tiers, each with a keyword count and a guaranteed subset: Starter at RM1,200 covers 10 target keywords with 4 guaranteed to page one, Growth at RM2,000 covers 20 with 8 guaranteed, Pro at RM3,200 covers 35 with 14 guaranteed, and Enterprise from RM5,500 covers 50 or more with a custom KPI guarantee. Content volume scales from 2 to 6 or more articles a month. Operating since 2011 from Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.
The guarantee is scoped rather than absolute, which is the honest shape for one, and it lands at a consistent 40% of each tier’s keyword set. Ask who selects the keywords and whether their search volumes are disclosed, because that single question decides whether a guarantee on 4 of 10 terms means anything. Terms are a six-month minimum then month to month, with no setup fee and two months free on annual payment.
4. iMarketing MY
Local SEO capabilities: Google Business Profile optimisation from the Advanced tier up, industry directory citation building, unlinked brand mention outreach, competitor AI mention monitoring, and a full schema suite including LocalBusiness at the top tier.
Three published tiers: Essential at RM2,400 covers 10 keywords and up to 6 content pieces, Advanced at RM3,600 covers 20 keywords and up to 12, and Premium at RM4,800 covers 30 keywords and up to 18. Also publishes annual backlink volumes of up to 240, 300 and 360. Operated by Acme Commerce Sdn Bhd, established 1999, SEO practice running since 2018, based at Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur.
The detail that decides the fit: GBP optimisation is not listed on Essential. A local business buying the RM2,400 entry tier is buying organic SEO, with the Google Business Profile work starting at RM3,600. Content volume is the strongest in this set by a wide margin, at up to 18 pieces a month against two or four elsewhere, so a business whose bottleneck is publishing rather than profile work gets more here per ringgit.
5. Adam SEO
Local SEO capabilities: Google Business Profile optimisation with category mapping and service-area setup including address-hidden businesses, citation and NAP cleanup across Google, Apple Maps, Bing Places and Waze, duplicate listing removal, suspended profile diagnosis and reinstatement documentation, local pack and direction-request tracking, review generation guidance, and local landing pages for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor Bahru.
Local SEO is included in the Standard retainer and above, from RM3,500 a month, with the final figure depending on location count and citation cleanup volume. Founded in 2011, based at Premier Suites, Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
This is the deepest published local scope of any provider here, and it is the only one that names suspended profile recovery as a deliverable. A GBP suspension takes a business out of the Map Pack entirely, so for anyone who has had a profile pulled, this is the specialist entry on this list. The page is explicit that reinstatement is documented rather than promised with a date, which is the correct way to describe work nobody controls.
6. Big Domain
Local SEO capabilities: A Google My Business Booster component covering a GMB audit with recommendations, profile optimisation and a strategy call, alongside a website SEO audit, a three-month action plan, competitor keyword analysis across 20 keywords and content review.
One published package at a promotional RM1,480 against a stated list price of RM4,999. Big Domain Sdn Bhd (registration 1255428-V), headquartered at Setia Sentral in Perai, Penang, with an office at Rio Tower, Puchong.
Worth reading as a bundle rather than a retainer. The GMB Booster is a defined piece of setup work with a strategy call attached, which suits a business that has never claimed its profile properly and wants that fixed once. Neither contract length nor setup fee is published, and the gap between the promotional and list prices is large enough to ask how long the promotion runs.
Group B: providers publishing a price without local scope itemised
7. ZenWeb
SEO capabilities: Website audit, on-page and technical optimisation, article writing, CTA integration and Analytics setup, Search Console reporting, plus AEO and GEO optimisation for ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok at the upper tier.
Two published tiers: Starter at RM1,299 tracking 20 keywords with 5 targeted to page one, and Growth at RM1,999 tracking 50 with 10 targeted. Both carry a six-month minimum contract.
Starter is described as suited to local SMEs targeting rankings in their area, but neither tier itemises Google Business Profile setup or management. ZenWeb’s own local SEO article quotes a RM800 to RM3,500 range, sourced to a blend of its own package rates and typical Malaysian vendor ranges, so the article and the pricing page do not resolve to the same numbers. Confirm what local work, if any, sits inside the RM1,299 tier before treating it as a local SEO package.
Group C: providers publishing no price
8. Locus-T
Local SEO capabilities: A Google Business Profile package covering one-time account setup, business registration and activation, ownership claiming and verification, listing cleanup, image uploads, business detail population, Google Chat setup, a GBP video tutorial, and a Google Reviews snippet and widget.
No rate card. The GBP package is published as “Per Annual (Package Worth RM999)”, which states a worth rather than a price, so what you actually pay is not disclosed. Founded in 2000 in Petaling Jaya, making it the longest-established provider on this list, and it states service to more than 7,000 SMEs and MNCs.
The package is explicitly setup work: claiming, verifying, populating and cleaning up a profile, plus a tutorial so someone in-house can run it afterwards. For a business that wants its profile built correctly once and then managed internally, that shape fits better than a retainer. It is not ongoing optimisation and does not claim to be.
9. One Search Pro
Local SEO capabilities: Full site audit, local keyword research, Google Business Profile setup and optimisation, location landing pages, local directory submissions, content writing and monthly reporting.
No published pricing, listed as custom packages based on project scope. Based in Taman Segar, Kuala Lumpur, with registration number 201901026344.
Its published timeline expectation is the useful detail: Business Profile improvements can show impact within weeks, while broader local ranking gains typically take two to four months. That is a more honest framing than most Malaysian local SEO pages manage, and it matches what profile work actually does, since relevance signals update quickly while prominence accumulates.
How to pick a local SEO provider in Malaysia
Quick Answer: Six questions, all answerable before you sign, four of which most proposals leave blank.
- What is the price at my second and third branch? The Branch Divisor decides this. A provider quoting one flat figure regardless of branch count has not priced your situation.
- Which of relevance, distance and prominence does each line item move? Google names three factors and distance is fixed. Anything that moves none of them is overhead.
- Do I keep the Google Business Profile if we part ways? You should be the Primary Owner with the provider added as Manager. Our twelve-question vetting process for Malaysian SEO agencies covers the account ownership terms and the free SSM and service tax lookups to run before anyone replies.
- Will you report with a geo-grid, or a single ranking number? Local position varies by searcher location. One number for a whole city is not a result.
- Is your quote inclusive or exclusive of 8% service tax? On a RM2,000 retainer that is RM1,920 across a year.
- What happens if my profile gets suspended? Only one provider on this list names reinstatement work as a deliverable.
Red flag: any guaranteed Map Pack position. Google’s documentation states there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking, so a guarantee is either on terms nobody searches or a promise over something the provider does not control.
Key takeaway: the third question is the expensive one to get wrong. A profile created under a provider’s account can take weeks to recover and carries a seven-day waiting period on any ownership transfer.
When is local SEO the wrong spend?
Quick Answer: Skip it if nobody searches for your category locally, if you have no physical address or defined service area, or if your profile is already complete and your reviews already lead your area. For some Malaysian businesses the honest answer is to spend RM0 with an agency and 30 minutes a week on reviews.
Three situations where I would keep the money.
Your profile is already done and your reviews lead the area. Profile completeness and review volume are where most local SEO budget goes. If both are already handled, you are paying a retainer to maintain a position you hold.
You have no address and no service area. An online-only business selling nationwide has no distance factor to work with, which removes one of Google’s three named factors and weakens a second. That is general SEO, priced differently. Our full buyer’s guide to hiring an SEO agency in Malaysia covers what those retainers run to and the in-house comparison at RM5,548 a month.
You need one thing fixed rather than managed. A suspended profile, a duplicate listing, inconsistent NAP data across directories. That is a project. A one-off audit at RM1,500 to RM5,000 identifies it, and the agencies selling standalone SEO audits in Malaysia price that as a defined deliverable. If you want individuals rather than firms, our ranked list of SEO consultants in Malaysia covers the advisory route, and the comparison of eight Malaysian SEO agencies by published pricing covers general retainers.
Key takeaway: count your reviews against the three businesses above you in the Map Pack before you brief anyone. If you are already ahead on both review count and profile completeness, the gap is distance, and no retainer closes that.
Can a grant cover this?
Quick Answer: Partly. The MSME Digital Grant MADANI covers 50% of approved digitalisation costs up to RM5,000, and digital marketing including SEO qualifies when invoiced through an approved Digitalisation Partner. You need RM10,000 of approved invoices to draw the full RM5,000.
At RM1,150 a month that is 8.7 months of invoices to max the grant, and the cap covers 36% of a RM13,800 annual spend. At RM2,000 it takes 5 months and covers 21% of RM24,000. The lower your retainer, the larger the share the grant covers, which is the opposite of how most people assume it works.
Two conditions catch people out. The provider must be an approved Digitalisation Partner, which most are not, and approval is generally needed before work starts. Our guide to which Malaysian SME grants are currently open covers the eligibility gates and the schemes that are loans dressed as grants.
Key takeaway: ask about Digitalisation Partner status during shortlisting. If two providers are otherwise level, that status is worth up to RM5,000.
Start with a diagnosis, not a retainer
Most Malaysian local SEO engagements begin with a twelve-month commitment and no clear picture of what is broken. At the RM2,000 median that is RM25,920 across a year, decided on a sales call.
Mackyclyde SEO’s free audit covers the highest-impact checks from its 47-point framework, including a per-branch Google Business Profile review, NAP consistency across Malaysian directories, city and state page coverage, and an AI search readiness score. Two business days from access, no payment and no contract. If the free audit shows deeper problems, the full 47-point audit starts from RM3,000 and runs five business days, and 7 of those 47 checkpoints cover local SEO specifically.
Request the free SEO audit, then take the findings to whichever provider on this list fits your branch count.
Frequently asked questions about local SEO in Malaysia
How much does local SEO cost in Malaysia? Verified published pricing runs from RM1,150 a month for a single outlet up to RM12,000 for multi-branch programmes. The median published figure is RM2,000, which becomes RM2,160 payable with 8% service tax. Per-outlet plans fall to RM550 per location at 21 or more outlets.
Is local SEO cheaper than regular SEO in Malaysia? At the entry level, slightly. The cheapest published local-specific plan is RM1,150 per outlet against RM1,200 for the cheapest flat retainer itemising Google Business Profile work. The gap widens with branches: a flat retainer divided across 3 branches allocates RM667 per profile, below the RM980 per-outlet rate for that band.
How long does local SEO take to work? Google Business Profile changes can show impact within weeks, because relevance signals update quickly once a profile is complete and correctly categorised. Broader local ranking gains typically take two to four months, since prominence accumulates through reviews and links rather than updating on edit.
Can a local SEO agency guarantee a Google Maps position? No. Google’s Business Profile documentation states there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Two providers here publish scoped guarantees on a share of a keyword set rather than on Map Pack position, which is the defensible shape. Ask who picks the keywords.
Do I still need local SEO if I already rank on Google? Possibly not. If your profile is complete, your categories are accurate and your review count leads the three businesses above you in the Map Pack, the remaining gap is usually distance, which no provider can change. Count reviews against those three competitors before briefing anyone.
Who owns my Google Business Profile if I hire an agency? You should, as Primary Owner, with the agency added as Manager. Recovering a profile created under an agency account is slow: Google imposes a seven-day waiting period before a newly added owner can transfer primary ownership or remove other users, so fix this at signing rather than at termination.
