For years, getting your hands on official Pokemon Center merchandise meant a trip to Japan. That changed in 2019, and the map has kept expanding since. Singapore got the first store outside Japan, Taiwan followed in 2023, and 2026 has turned into the busiest year yet, with Thailand’s first permanent Pokemon Center and Malaysia’s first-ever pop-up both confirmed. Here’s where every official Pokemon Center in Asia actually is, plus what’s still to come.
Japan: Where It All Started

Japan remains home to the largest concentration of Pokemon Centers by far, with locations spread across Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and several other cities. Tokyo alone carries four full Pokemon Centers, including Shibuya, Ikebukuro Mega, Nihonbashi DX, and Skytree, alongside smaller Pokemon Store counters tucked into train stations and airports. Osaka has its own DX flagship on the ninth floor of Daimaru Shinsaibashi, plus a second location inside LUCUA Osaka.
Each Japanese Pokemon Center carries region-specific merchandise you won’t find anywhere else, which is part of why they’ve become a fixture on travel itineraries for fans visiting the country. The Mega and DX stores tend to be the largest, with dedicated photo spots, exclusive plush lines, and rotating seasonal collections tied to whichever Pokemon movie or anniversary campaign is running that year.

Singapore: The First Pokemon Center Outside Japan

Singapore holds the distinction of being the first country to get an official Pokemon Center outside Japan. The store opened on 17 April 2019 inside Jewel Changi Airport, a location that made sense given how many international travelers pass through the terminal every day. It’s remained a fixture there since, stocking a mix of regional exclusives and general merchandise that overlaps with the Japanese lineup.

Taiwan became the second country outside Japan to host a permanent Pokemon Center when the Taipei store opened on 8 December 2023. It sits on the third floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place A11, close to Taipei 101, and keeps hours that stretch to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For fans traveling through Taipei, it’s become a reliable stop alongside the city’s other pop culture retail.

Bangkok, Thailand: A Permanent Store Opening in 2026

Thailand is set to get its first permanent Pokemon Center in 2026, with the store landing at CentralWorld, one of Bangkok’s largest shopping complexes. This marks Pokemon Center’s expansion into Southeast Asia beyond the pop-up format, following the pattern set by Singapore and Taiwan of anchoring the store inside a major retail destination rather than a standalone location. They’re excited to offer local Pokémon fans a more accessible and localized experience.
Details like the exact opening date, store design, merchandise lineup, and any grand opening events are still under wraps, with official announcements expected later.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Malaysia’s First Pop-Up Store

Malaysia is getting its first official Pokemon Center, though in pop-up form rather than a permanent store. The Pokemon Center Pop-Up will open at Ombak KLCC from 12 September to 31 December 2026, running alongside an official Nintendo Pop-Up Store in the same location. The timing lines up with Pokemon’s 30th anniversary celebrations, which kick off in Malaysia with a free public event at KLCC Park on 12 and 13 September featuring themed installations, live performances, stage shows, and the country’s first Pokemon drone show.
Inside the store, the merchandise lineup will rotate through themes built around Pikachu, Fire-types, Grass-types, and Water-types over the course of its run, alongside the latest releases imported directly from Japan. A special anniversary Pikachu, the Turquoise PokeXciting Pikachu, is also expected to appear during the celebrations and will be catchable in Pokemon GO during the event period. Fans looking for more than just the pop-up store have Pokemon RUN 30: Malaysia Edition to look forward to as well, an interactive run scheduled for 21 and 22 November with themed checkpoints and exclusive participant merchandise.
Whether this pop-up eventually becomes a permanent fixture, the way Singapore’s and Taiwan’s stores did, isn’t confirmed yet. But its arrival puts Malaysia on the same map as Singapore, Taiwan, and soon Thailand, as one of the few countries in the region with an official Pokemon Center presence.

Conclusion
As of mid-2026, the full list of official Pokemon Center retail presences in Asia outside Japan looks like this: Singapore (Jewel Changi Airport, since 2019), Taipei (Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Place, since 2023), Bangkok (CentralWorld, opening later in 2026), and Kuala Lumpur (Ombak KLCC pop-up, 12 September to 31 December 2026). South Korea, despite its large Pokemon fanbase, still has no physical store, relying instead on an online Pokemon Store that ships within the country only.
