AirAsia HYROX Kuala Lumpur runs 10 to 13 December 2026 at MITEC, and it is Malaysia’s first HYROX. Four days, not two, which several third-party sites still get wrong.

The race is eight 1km runs alternating with eight workout stations. You can enter solo in Open or Pro, in Doubles, or as a Relay team of four. Adaptive divisions run on the Thursday and Friday.

Entry starts around RM424 per person for the cheapest division, but that is not what the day costs you. Your race wristband admits you on your race day only. Supporters pay RM70 each per day, and so do you if you want to watch any of the other three days. A first-timer with new gear and two supporters is looking at roughly RM864, which is 2.04 times the headline. That gap is the True Entry Cost.

The rule most likely to cost you money: no transfers, no division changes, and the Flex Add-On cannot be added later. Decide before you click buy.

HYROX arrived in Malaysia at a point where the local fitness scene had already been doing the training for it without a race to point at.

The format travels well because it is fixed. The same eight stations, the same order, the same distances, anywhere in the world. Your time in Kuala Lumpur is directly comparable to somebody’s time in Hamburg, which is the entire appeal and the reason the leaderboard matters more here than at a typical local event.

What follows is the event detail, the cost stack in ringgit, and the terms worth reading before you pay.

What HYROX actually is

Quick answer: A fixed-format fitness race. Eight 1km runs, each followed by one workout station, always in the same order. Roughly 60 to 90 minutes for most Open athletes, and the format never varies between cities, so results compare globally.

You run 1km, do a station, run 1km, do the next station, and repeat until you have done all eight of each. The running total is 8km. The stations are the same everywhere: ski erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls.

What changes between divisions is the load, not the work.

DivisionWhat it is
OpenSolo, standard weights. The default entry for most first-timers.
ProSolo, heavier loads. Age group winners can qualify for the World Championships.
DoublesTwo athletes share the stations, both run the full 8km.
Doubles ProAs Doubles, heavier loads.
RelayFour athletes split the race between them.
AdaptiveDivisions for athletes with disabilities, scheduled on Thursday and Friday.

Divisions as listed on the official HYROX Kuala Lumpur event page, retrieved 14 September 2026. Station standards, penalties and roxzone rules are in the HYROX Singles Rulebook for Season 26/27, with separate rulebooks for Doubles, Relay and Adaptive.

The transitions between run and station happen in a marked area called the roxzone, and time spent there counts. That surprises people more than the stations do.

Dates, venue and schedule

Quick answer: 10 to 13 December 2026 at MITEC, Jalan Dutamas 2, Kuala Lumpur. Four days, with divisions spread across them. Your race day is assigned by division, not chosen freely.

DayDivisions racing
Thursday 10 DecemberMen Open, Men Adaptive, Doubles Men Open, Doubles Women Open, Women Open, Women Adaptive, Doubles Mixed
Friday 11 DecemberMen Pro, Women Pro, Men Open, Men Adaptive, Doubles Women Open, Women Open, Women Adaptive, Doubles Men Open, Doubles Mixed, Relay Men
Saturday 12 DecemberMen Open, Men Adaptive, Doubles Mixed, Doubles Women Pro, Doubles Men Pro, Relay Women
Sunday 13 DecemberDoubles Women Open, Women Open, Women Adaptive, Doubles Men Open, Relay Mixed

Provisional schedule published on the official HYROX Kuala Lumpur event page, retrieved 14 September 2026. HYROX states the schedule is subject to change and that start time changes are not permitted once assigned, so plan around your division’s day. Individual start times are published roughly three days before the event.

Note the late finishes. HYROX estimates the last wave of the final division starting around 8:30pm on Friday, 8:20pm on Saturday and 8:10pm on Sunday. If you are in an evening wave, you are leaving MITEC late, and so are your supporters.

MITEC sits in the KL Metropolis development northwest of the city centre, roughly ten minutes by car from the KLCC area. It is an indoor, air-conditioned venue, which matters in December: the date falls in Kuala Lumpur’s wetter months, but the conditions inside are consistent regardless.

A date correction worth making. Several guides and aggregators still list this event as 12 to 13 December. The official event page and its published schedule show four days, 10 to 13 December. Use the official dates.

The True Entry Cost

Quick answer: Entry starts around RM424 per person, but the realistic first-timer figure is closer to RM864 once gear and two supporters’ tickets are added. That is 2.04 times the headline, and the gap is mostly the one-day wristband rule.

Here is the stack.

ItemCost
Race entry, cheapest division, per personRM424
Gear, indicative KL retail floorRM300
Spectator tickets, two supporters, one day eachRM140
True Entry Cost, first-timerRM864

Entry and spectator prices are third-party figures transcribed from the official registration page by RunDida and recorded on 25 August 2026, not official published prices. HYROX uses dynamic pricing, so live prices rise as places fill and will likely be higher now. Gear floor is an indicative 2026 Kuala Lumpur retail figure from malaysia4u. Verify all prices on the official registration page before budgeting. Retrieved 14 September 2026.

How it varies:

Your situationTotalMultiple on entry
Solo, own gear, nobody watchingRM4241.00x
Solo, own gear, two supportersRM5641.33x
First-timer, new gear, nobody watchingRM7241.71x
First-timer, new gear, two supportersRM8642.04x
First-timer, new gear, four supportersRM1,0042.37x

The one-day wristband rule

This is the detail that catches people, and it is official rather than inferred.

Your race wristband admits you to the venue only on the day of your race. To enter on any other day, including to watch friends in a different division, you buy a spectator ticket like anyone else. On the day you race, you can enter earlier than your check-in window via the spectator entrance using your athlete ticket QR code, but that concession applies to your race day alone.

With a four-day event, that adds up:

Days you want to attendCost to the athleteUplift on entry
Your race day onlyRM4240%
Plus one more dayRM494+16.5%
Plus two more daysRM564+33.0%
All four daysRM634+49.5%

Worth planning around if you are entering as a group in different divisions. Two friends racing on different days will each pay RM70 to watch the other unless they skip it.

Doubles and Relay are priced per person

Every athlete buys their own ticket. A Relay team of four is four entries, not one. Doubles and Relay entries are cheaper per head than Solo, which is why the RM424 floor describes the cheapest division rather than a solo entry. Budget a solo entry above that number.

AirAsia HYROX Kuala Lumpur

The rules that cost money

Quick answer: No transfers to other events, no division changes after purchase, and the Flex Add-On cannot be added later. All refund and name-change deadlines run relative to your race day, not the event start.

HYROX sells three effective configurations, and the choice is permanent.

OptionName changeRefund
No add-onNoNo
Flex LiteUp to 1 day before your race dayNo
Flex Add-OnUp to 1 day before your race day100% up to 31 days before; 50% up to 7 days before

Terms as published on the official HYROX Kuala Lumpur event page, retrieved 14 September 2026. Refunds exclude the Flex Add-On itself and the service fee. All deadlines fall at 7:59am event timezone. Charity tickets allow name changes but never refunds. Add-on pricing was not published on the event page; it appears at checkout.

The deadline detail that matters most: everything is measured against your race day, not the event’s start date. With divisions spread across four days, a Sunday racer has three more days of runway than a Thursday racer for the same nominal deadline. Work from your own date.

Is the Flex Add-On worth buying? It depends on a price the event page does not publish, so here is the logic rather than an answer. The add-on pays for itself when your chance of withdrawing, multiplied by the refund you would recover, exceeds what it costs. On a RM424 entry, a 10% chance of needing a full refund is worth about RM42 in expected value, a 20% chance about RM85. If the add-on costs less than roughly RM42 and you have any real doubt about December, it covers itself. Check the price at checkout and do that arithmetic.

One more warning on packages. Klook sells Experience Packages bundling entry with one or two Hyatt nights. Those are explicitly non-cancellable, with no amendment to hotel, check-in date or name. Convenient, and the least flexible way to buy.

How to enter

Quick answer: Register through the official HYROX Kuala Lumpur page, pick your division carefully because you cannot change it, decide on Flex at the point of purchase, and enter early since dynamic pricing means the cost rises as places fill.

  1. Pick your division honestly. Open for a solo first-timer, Doubles to share the stations, Relay for a team of four. You cannot change this later.
  2. Check which day your division races. Use the schedule above. You do not choose your day; your division does.
  3. Register on the official page, at hyrox.com’s Kuala Lumpur event listing. Avoid resale listings.
  4. Decide on Flex at checkout. It cannot be added afterwards.
  5. Buy spectator tickets for your supporters at the same time, one per person per day.
  6. Personalise your ticket in your HYROX account. This is required to get your Sportograf photo redemption ID.
  7. Bring ID to check-in. Checking in on behalf of someone else is not permitted.

Entries have been on sale since at least late August 2026 and divisions sell at different speeds, so if you want a specific one, earlier is both cheaper and safer.

Ways to spend less

Volunteer instead of racing. The HYROX Race Crew gets a MYR 100 HYROX World Rewards voucher, race crew patches, a collectible, an official T-shirt, access to the HYROX365 Foundation Course, and lunch or dinner provided. The voucher is redeemable only at HYROX Malaysia races and expires 13 months after issue. For anyone curious about the format but not ready to race, this is a free way to see it from the inside.

Use the AirAsia partner code if you are flying in. 10% off flights to Malaysia with code AAHYXKUL, booking by 28 November 2026, travelling between 28 November and 27 December 2026. Applied on the flight search page in AirAsia MOVE.

Hyatt’s partner offer gives World of Hyatt members an extra 10% off the Member Rate, 15% off on-site dining and spa, and complimentary race kit laundry.

Enter early. Dynamic pricing means the entry fee genuinely rises as spots fill. This is the largest single saving available and it costs nothing but deciding sooner.

Buy gear you need, not gear you have seen. Indicative Kuala Lumpur retail puts a workable kit at around RM300, with shoes accounting for most of it. Everything above that buys comfort rather than a faster time.

Before you enter

HYROX is a demanding endurance event, with eight kilometres of running and eight loaded stations back to back. Most people entering their first one train for it across a couple of months rather than turning up on fitness alone.

If you have a health condition, are returning from injury, or have not trained at this intensity before, talk to a doctor or a qualified coach before committing to a division. That is worth doing before you buy, given the no-refund default and the no-division-change rule.

Beyond that, the practical points: the venue is indoor and air-conditioned, there is a hydration station on the course, and evening waves finish late enough that getting home needs planning.

What this guide cannot tell you

Prices are third-party and already out of date. The RM424 entry floor and RM70 spectator figures were transcribed from the registration page by a third party on 25 August 2026. HYROX does not publish a static price list, uses dynamic pricing, and the live number will be higher now. Treat every price here as indicative and check the official page.

Flex Add-On pricing is not published. The break-even logic above is sound; the input is not available until checkout.

Check-in times and locations are still TBC. The official page lists early athlete registration and race-day registration as to be confirmed, along with ceremony times. Those appear closer to the event.

The schedule is provisional. HYROX says so on its own page. Divisions can move between days.

Frequently asked questions

When and where is HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026? 10 to 13 December 2026 at MITEC, Jalan Dutamas 2, Kuala Lumpur. It is Malaysia’s first HYROX and the final APAC race of the 2026 season. Note that several third-party sites still list 12 to 13 December; the official event page shows a four-day schedule starting Thursday 10 December.

How much does HYROX Kuala Lumpur cost? Entry starts around RM424 per person for the cheapest division, recorded in late August 2026. HYROX uses dynamic pricing, so the live figure rises as places fill. Spectator tickets are about RM70 per person per day. A first-timer with new gear and two supporters realistically spends around RM864.

What is HYROX? A fixed-format fitness race: eight 1km runs alternating with eight workout stations, always in the same order. The stations are ski erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. The format is identical worldwide, so finishing times compare directly across cities.

Can I watch HYROX Kuala Lumpur without racing? Yes, with a spectator ticket at about RM70 per person per day. Athletes need one too for any day other than their own race day, because the race wristband only admits you on the day you compete. With four days of racing, attending all of them costs an athlete an extra RM210.

Can I get a refund on a HYROX entry? Only with the Flex Add-On, which must be bought at the same time as the ticket and cannot be added later. It gives 100% refund up to 31 days before your race day and 50% up to 7 days before, excluding the add-on and service fee. Without it there is no refund, no transfer and no division change.

Which HYROX division should a first-timer enter? Open for a solo first attempt, or Doubles to share the station work with a partner while both still run the full 8km. Relay splits the race between four. Pro divisions carry heavier loads and are where World Championship qualification slots sit. You cannot change division after purchase, so choose before you pay.
